Despite the story saying Joja's prices are lower than Pierre's, for the player it's more expensive to buy from Joja. Except for sunflower seeds, everything else is cheaper at Pierre's, so it's not worth buying from Joja even if you have some memey hate for Pierrre or whatever. Probably because he brags that the crops you sell him are his own work. Pierre and his family aren't religious, they don't use the temple in their house, instead choosing to let the other people in Pelican Town use it.
